What amazes me is how far people take online drama. How far they go to cause someone misery and bully them. Why they all take the same path. Same crap, different idiot.
I was sent some pretty nasty images today. All of my nine year old daughter, though in the photographs, she was about six or seven years old. Some one had placed pornographic images over her photo, and written vulgar messages on them. I’ve had several comments here gotten by my spam filter from someone commenting from proxies (time to get out the .htaccess file again), asking if “it was worth it”, “[my] daughter will burn in hell”, “you’re going to be dead by this time next week” and “[my daughter is] a little filthy slut like her mother”. It’s no coincidence why this happened today, and I’ve spent the last hour or so, printing, scanning, and PDF-ing evidence while searching for answers.
TinyPic.com, the place where the vulgar images were hosted, simply removed the images. I asked if they were uploaded with a proxy, and they said no, but without a court order, I can’t get the IP of the person who did it. Huh? Someone makes child pornography of my daughter’s images, and I can’t get an IP to prosecute? I said I had a possible suspect, and they didn’t care. They apologised for the images being on their server, and said they would not allow the person to upload such nonsense in the future. Nice people.
I then contacted the police in the tiny hamlet where I suspected it happened. They wanted proof, an IP or confession, that it came from their town. Right. Isn’t that their job to prove who did it? I argued with the officer that he could get the information from TinyPic because he was a police officer. He threatened to arrest me. I said he couldn’t cross state lines. He threatened to have the police here arrest me. I told the cop the evidence lines up as the same person, based on where they got the images of my daughter from. But by now he was done with me.
What possesses someone to do something like this? This isn’t the first time my daughter has been the target of a sick person online for several years. What happened today is no accident or no coincidence. I’m used to it, but I’m sick and tired of it. That little girl has done nothing to no one online. She doesn’t even come online. Her images were on an abandoned account, and when people do things like this, it seriously makes me worried for the human race. The person knew she was physically sick and chose to laugh about that anyway.
I’ve considered pulling everything I have offline. It’s just too much. I wish it didn’t have to be this way.
