Night Watcher

I got one of those Librarything profiles, so add me or something. =) I also added an alternate way to contact me here. All of my email addresses now download directly to my computer, so I shouldn’t miss anything if you email me. Unless I’m away on vacation, and then I probably won’t have my desk top.
I have a migraine today. It hurts just to move my eyeballs. It hurts to hear the summertime cicadas singing outside the window. It hurts to hear Chloe playing on the floor, Dennis snoring in the bed, James and Asher shuffling around in their crib and Darren tapping his feet on the wooden floor. It hurts to hear the dog gnawing on her rawhide bone. It hurts when the fluorescent lights flicker. It hurts when the air conditioner kicks in. It just plain hurts.
Eventually, I’m going to have to step away from the dark bedroom and fix dinner, though I hate to. I’d rather lay here and sip wine all night, but the kids would starve and I’d go to jail or something like that. My doctor thinks it’s the heat causing my headaches. It’s been well over 100ºF all week with no breaks in sight. I’m not sure what to fix, even. Probably my home-made chicken nuggets with spring mashed potatoes. Though I have a nagging feeling that Darren will throw the potatoes. He’s going through a phase where he likes to throw things that go “SPLAT!” especially if they end up on the dog’s back and she shakes all over the walls.
We may get a clear night, tonight and I could go out and star gaze for a few moments. Watch them twinkle and sparkle and play in the dark summer night. I miss star-gazing. I miss just going outside and looking up at the stars and daydreaming for a few moments. I miss having that quiet time and being able to just forget about all that happened in the day and relax. Now I spend my nights preparing kids for bed, fixing food, working on my site, or worse: burning some kind of media. I need a mini-break once again. I need those magical stars to take me away. Even if it’s just for a little while.
