About eleven days ago, I bid on a still by Mike Matei for the first Board James videos I remember seeing. I started out at bidding $20, but somewhere in there, it got to about $81. Oh well. It’s all for the good of the community, right? This was one auction I wouldn’t have minded losing because I’m not supposed to be spending money. So when I got word from the post office that my drawing was going to be delivered today, I was over joyed. I’d won the auction and I was going to have another part of the entertainment history. All this aside, being a Star Collector, I feel that I go overboard when it comes to concerts and autographs.
Around 3pm, the mail came, and sure enough, there was a cardboard make-shift envelope in the mailbox. I snuck away to open it in solitude, and what I seen in there kind of shocked me. It was a crudely drawn pencil sketch that looked nothing like the picture I bid on. WTF? Where was my picture? That’s when I turned over the still and seen the beautiful inked drawing that I had been promised. So there’s a sketch on the back. I got more than I bargained for. I don’t know if anyone else’s ink drawings have the pencil sketches on the back, but I’m kind of happy mine does. Does that make it more valuable?
Right now, the picture is in the closet where it’s going to stay until I can get a good frame. I considered hiding it under the bed, but the mattress might burst again and spring a leak. Then I considered at the side of the desk, and then I remembered the air conditioner leaks. The closet occasionally floods when the water heater breaks, so I chose the shelf in the closet. I’ve scanned both sides of the sketch, and they’re water marked, so don’t even think about stealing them. Just click to view the original size. I apologise for my scanner in advance. When you see the full-sized scans, you’ll see why. Oh, and feel free to be jealous. I insist! =)
