Dad-in-law’s Birthday

Tomorrow is my father-in-law’s birthday. I almost don’t want to post his age, but I kind of have to since Chloe and I made his cake today. I mixed and baked the cake, and she made the icing and then decorated it. She broke some of the candy pieces taking them off the sheet, but I think she did an excellent job in decorating the cake. For a four-year-old. She even made the shade of blue the icing turned out to be. The truly surprising thing is that she didn’t make a mess with the blue food colouring.

The theme is “the Ocean”. There are little blue and white swirls among the “water” and the white border is supposed to be surf. The white dots are bubbles. I think she did good for a four year old who hasn’t had any real baking experience. Of course I am bias. I’m sure if Chef Ramsay seen her cooking he’d make a remark like “cake mix cake, cheap candy, what the *&^% is your problem?! Get outta my kitchen!!” Then again, I don’t expect her to be on the show any time soon.
