I talked to the lawyer about the LOLCOW. He said that I had some choices. I could either ignore her, email her and ask her to stop contacting me in a hostile manner, email her and ask her to stop contacting me at all, or he could send her a registered letter demanding that she stop all contact — and little anonymous comments — towards me, for free. I know how many people would jump through their assholes for free legal help, although the band pays him far more than he’s really worth, sending the LOLCOW a legal letter would expose my stage name as well as my husband’s, and I just can’t do that to us. He assured me that the JAG wasn’t going to get involved, nor would any other lawyer in their right mind. He advised me to simply ask her to stop, CC the email to three other people, and ignore her in the future.
So I sent her an email, stating that she needed to stop contacting me. I told her that as soon as I got my credit card paid, I would be PayPal-ing her $10 and she was to no longer contact me after that. I told her that I used to be her friend and that I did not believe those people who said she eventually fucked them over, but her actions alone changed my mind. I believe them now. I should have believed them all along. That’s the price one pays for being nice to people and giving them the benefit of a doubt. I made it a point to say that I was sorry that I believed that she was the victim in all of this. Yes, she may be the victim of some steep bullying, but she provokes these people. She starts things with people, and then gets upset when they “take it too far.” As if saying “Your daughter deserved to die.” isn’t too far in her opinion.
