Spott Advertising

One of the many things that never ceases to amaze me is how obligated people feel to blog, only to sell out later on down the road and sell their integrity to companies who publish porn on their sites. I’m talking about blogspot users, who have probably never shelled out the money for an actual webpage and hosting, yet they claim they are ‘family friendly’ sites and encourage ‘people who walk with God’ to visit their sites.

Like many of the .com boomers, I despised advertising on my sites so badly that I broke away from Blogspot.com completely. Back in those days, they put annoying animated GIF graphics on your blog. There was a paid option, but I figured if I was going to shell out $50 for an ad-free, free blogspot site for 12 months, I might as well just get hosting for my neglected domain (this one here) and be done with it. Why not have a fully hosted site for just $10 more? I could put all my files on there, and get a custom email address, and never, ever have to deal with advertising again! Then the froobs moved in. They wanted free blogspot.com sites, so the paid blogspotters were blotted out. They got their free blogspot sites when Google took over (no, I will never, ever get over that!). Then they started making money off of their free sites. They paid nothing for the site, but they want funds to advertise on it because Google blogs are at the top of Google? Makes a lot of sense!

Then we come across Spott Advertising. The ‘anything goes’ advertising that brought us Cassie’s World, complete with a picture of a woman giving a blowjob next to an entry about keeping kids safe and off of adult sites. Hmmm. Now comes along a Christian site, that says some of the songs she is posting are not Christian, but we should keep an open mind. Her Spott Advertising suggests that we should keep an open ass, too:

And that’s why I love the internet. XD

Generation X

There’s a radio station here that plays nothing but Generation X-style music. The tag line for it is actually from that Wikipedia site: “Individuals considered to be within Generation X were born, and grew up during the later years of, and in the decade following the Vietnam War. They are most often linked to the presidencies of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. Coming of age after the Vietnam War had ended, their political experiences and cultural perspective were shaped by the end of the cold war and the fall of the Berlin wall.” I listened to it for about thirty seconds before I had to turn it off. That station sucks! There’s already a “hits of the 80s, 90s and today” station! Why do we need two right next to one another? Someone said the station used to play music from the 50s and 60s. That I could get into. Gimme Simon and Garfunkel over this garbage any day!

I don’t think it’s actually “Generation X” music. It’s whiny emo stuff that I could hear at any ‘tween’s slumber party. *pukes*

Oh, and happy new year, happy new decade and all that. :)

The Person In The Shadows

It just hit me… I’ll be 30 this year. Out of the terrible twenties. I’m not sure if that’s significant or not.
Actually I’m not sure of anything anymore. I used to have my life semi-mapped out. I was covered til about 2012 or 2013. Go to college, have some fun, get my degree, find a job, have some fun, yada yada. I can’t see that vision anymore. It’s locked away in some sort of time warp and the key seems to have been misplaced.
I’m questioning what I even want anymore. My mind seems to keep wandering to the freedom of roaming and travel. I’ve always been pretty sure what I wanted but as each day has turned into another month I become more confused. I don’t know what’s important and what’s not. It’s hard to see beyond one day let alone a month or a year.
I don’t make resolutions. I never have. I’ve spent my time setting goals and trying to see them through. I don’t know anyone who’s ever stuck to their resolutions. It’s almost like they’re made just so they can be broken. I’ve never liked the concept of breaking something I say I’ll do so I just stay away from that type of thing.
So in conclusion… I’d say I was just as confused today as I was yesterday.
