I was given the betas for iTunes 9.2 and iPhone 4 (iOS [whatever]), and I have to say that it’s all hype and no potatoes. iTunes looks exactly the same as it did in 9.1, and as for iPhone 4, for the first time, since I’ve had my iPhone – going back to 2008 – I got a memory warning. I never had that problem when I had the first generation iPhone and the first OS for it. But today, while playing Monopoly, I got a warning that “the device” was out of memory. The device being my phone. I guess it ran out of RAM because according to iTunes I still have plenty of space left on the phone. Or perhaps it’s a glitch in the beta release of the software. I reported it to Apple, in case it was a glitch.

I became an Apple beta tester (actually, I beta test many software pieces, such as WordPress, LiveJournal.com features, and the likes), today when I read all the hype about iTunes 9.2 on other sites. I was so disappointed after I paid to test it. Really, there’s no difference to me. I noticed that my wallpaper was reset to a water-drops-on-polished-wood background on my iPhone, and the apps glide around a little smoother, but after resetting my default wallpaper, and it now peeks out from behind the apps when browsing the iPhone, still, there’s really not that much for people to want to rush and download torrents and demand that the developers seed this software. Many people are going to be disappointed when this is released, if there’s no improvement from these beta versions.

Yes, I’ve seen the posts on the web where people want torrents and leaks of the software, and it’s really not worth the illegal activity. It’s not worth nearly getting caught or risking your ISP connection to have it a few days early. Apple’s iStore doesn’t even have the ever-waited for iBooks available yet. There’s nothing significantly different in this version of iTunes and the previous one. Besides, it cost me on $99 US to became a beta tester today, and I have the Buyer’s Remorse. Seriously.
