Party Favors

Here are some of the party favors I’ve bought and sorted for my husband’s party tonight:

The blood bag comes with a little warning:

And instructions:

The yellow cake Uranium smells sooooo good. I want to try one now, but the party isn’t until 7pm. My husband’s ex is here and made a ‘bleeding cake’. When it’s cut, it will ooze strawberry gel that resembles blood. How original. Oh, and there are little drips of blood on the cake. Again, original. Wish I would have thought of that.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Oh, and I have to add this. It’s a few years old, and I don’t even remember who made it, but I don’t want to make a separate post for him, so this is as good as it gets. *all smiles*

We’re still going out tonight. I’m still worried about what to expect, but I have faith that tonight won’t be bad. :)

I’m still offering 500 EntreCredits to my 500th commenter. We’re somewhat closer than we were last week. Keep em coming!

Cake Wreck

All the sweet, green icing flowing down…
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
‘Cause it took so long to bake it
And I’ll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

So here’s the deal…

Matt and I had a few drinks. Matt and I took some promethazine (his medicine; I’ve taken it before but I ran out) for my back hurting and his kidney pain. I remembered my mother’s birthday cake was cooling on the stove and my step dad had left me specific instructions for the cake: White icing with a dusting of sprinkles plus the candy smiles, flowers and peace signs. Hmm. A dusting of sprinkles? Matt and I iced the cake, tipsy and dizzy. We plopped the candy decorations on it. I closed the lid on the cake pan. Then I seen the jar of sprinkles. “We forgot the sprinkles,” I said. “Open the cake back up,” Matt replied. “Yeah, open the cake back up,” I said. “Can I write COUGAR on it?” he asked. “No COUGARS!” I replied, tearing the plastic dome on the cake pan. “You suck,” Matt replied, and grabbed the jar of sprinkles, and unscrewed the lid. “Gimme the sprinkles,” I said, and reached for them, tossing the plastic dome on the floor, amongst the dog hair. “I’m fuckin’ writin’ COUGAR on that fuckin’ cake no matter what you fuckin’ say!” he replied. I made a dive for the sprinkles. Matt dropped the entire jar on the cake.

We both sat there looking at the mess he’d made.

We were in deep silence.

Just MacArthur Park playing in the back ground.

I sighed. Closed up the cake. “Maybe they won’t notice,” I said. Matt ran and got my camera. He said the cake was Cake Wrecks worthy. I don’t think it’s that bad. Or maybe it is. It looks … terrible. Maybe mom can have a happy birthday next year?

Yes, I tried to even out the sprinkles with a spatula. I failed. Obviously.

See why it’s a bad idea to drink and decorate a cake, kids?!

I’m going to go crash and try to sleep off this dizziness and drunk-y-ness. Maybe my step dad won’t notice the cake when he comes to pick it up tonight…
Oh, and if anyone submits it to Cake Wrecks, give me credit, ok? I won’t be mad as long as I get credit. :D

Cake Timer

Tuesday, March 2, 2010 17.42.56 |  by Jamie  |  Adventures, Birthdays, Life

I’m baking my mom a cake for her birthday tomorrow. Matt is here and we made lemon and toffee cake. It won’t bake in the center. Seriously, it’s liquid in the middle, and it’s been in the oven for over two hours. We keep setting the timer for 15-20 minutes, and every time it goes off, it scares me to the point where I nearly jump out of my chair. This is not good for my back.

Also, if anyone is so kind, can you give me your reviews of AT&T-friendly cell phones? My husband’s business contract was up with them in February, and we’re deciding on either getting away from AT&T or upgrading to the iPhone 3GS. Is it worth it? I can shoot video with my iPhone now, thanks to an app that I downloaded. Meh. I can Google this, but I’d like personal feedback, please. :)

Killer Caterpillars

I was attacked by caterpillars today while I waited on my ride home. I was sitting under the tree at the front of the school while the cold winds blew on my bare arms and the gray clouds passed over head, when three fat, hairy caterpillars fell down on me from the tree. Normally, squirrels play on the tree and toss down waste from their nuts they’re eating for hibernation, but today there were many caterpillars falling from the tree. There were two on the bench that I brushed aside when I sat down. I don’t know where they went once they were on the ground.
I fixed cold ham and cheese croissants for dinner because we’re going to be having cake and ice cream later on tonight. I think I was the only one who got my father-in-law anything for his birthday. That is sad. I remember when he used to complain that people never celebrated birthdays, and they were just another day. I hate that. I think I’ll go wrap one of his presents in foil since we don’t have any wrapping paper, and maybe get the candles ready and start the ice cream treats. I think this is gonna be good. :)
I started taking my pills again. The anti-depressants. I hate taking them. They always either give me severe heart burn or severe head aches. I wish there was something else I could take or something else I could do. There isn’t though.

Dad-in-law's Birthday

chocolate cakeTomorrow is my father-in-law’s birthday. I almost don’t want to post his age, but I kind of have to since Chloe and I made his cake today. I mixed and baked the cake, and she made the icing and then decorated it. She broke some of the candy pieces taking them off the sheet, but I think she did an excellent job in decorating the cake. For a four-year-old. :) She even made the shade of blue the icing turned out to be. The truly surprising thing is that she didn’t make a mess with the blue food colouring.

The theme is “the Ocean”. There are little blue and white swirls among the “water” and the white border is supposed to be surf. The white dots are bubbles. I think she did good for a four year old who hasn’t had any real baking experience. :) Of course I am bias. I’m sure if Chef Ramsay seen her cooking he’d make a remark like “cake mix cake, cheap candy, what the *&^% is your problem?! Get outta my kitchen!!” Then again, I don’t expect her to be on the show any time soon. :)

Ziggy's Birthday

Tuesday, October 6, 2009 13.50.15 |  by Jamie  |  Adventures, Birthdays, Family, Life, Pictures!

I found out what my dad wanted this weekend. He wanted to go to some concerts at the fair with me on Sunday. It’s too bad that I could barely stand up on Sunday, never mind walk to the stage and sit for a few hours. I had to lay down in the bed most of the day. That’s how bad it was.
I’m under pain management now. I’m getting well, but it’s slow. Tomorrow will be better. I know it will.
I found an old picture on the memory of my camera. It’s from back in January:

The tree outside the window looks fake. It doesn’t look like fall here…

My new journal, upclose:

Ziggy’s birthday cake (the carrot cake was her’s, the humans ate the chocolate cake):

She looks so sad to be turning two:

The sun came out. I think I will go a head and go out for a little while. Just a bit. I feel a little bit like running in the grass, but I know better than that. I’m going to enjoy the sunshine while I still can.
