Does anyone have any experience with Creative Suite 5? Is it worth the upgrade, or will I be seriously disappointed in about an hour when it gets done downloading?

I was given the betas for iTunes 9.2 and iPhone 4 (iOS [whatever]), and I have to say that it’s all hype and no potatoes. iTunes looks exactly the same as it did in 9.1, and as for iPhone 4, for the first time, since I’ve had my iPhone – going back to 2008 – I got a memory warning. I never had that problem when I had the first generation iPhone and the first OS for it. But today, while playing Monopoly, I got a warning that “the device” was out of memory. The device being my phone. I guess it ran out of RAM because according to iTunes I still have plenty of space left on the phone. Or perhaps it’s a glitch in the beta release of the software. I reported it to Apple, in case it was a glitch.

I became an Apple beta tester (actually, I beta test many software pieces, such as WordPress, LiveJournal.com features, and the likes), today when I read all the hype about iTunes 9.2 on other sites. I was so disappointed after I paid to test it. Really, there’s no difference to me. I noticed that my wallpaper was reset to a water-drops-on-polished-wood background on my iPhone, and the apps glide around a little smoother, but after resetting my default wallpaper, and it now peeks out from behind the apps when browsing the iPhone, still, there’s really not that much for people to want to rush and download torrents and demand that the developers seed this software. Many people are going to be disappointed when this is released, if there’s no improvement from these beta versions.

Yes, I’ve seen the posts on the web where people want torrents and leaks of the software, and it’s really not worth the illegal activity. It’s not worth nearly getting caught or risking your ISP connection to have it a few days early. Apple’s iStore doesn’t even have the ever-waited for iBooks available yet. There’s nothing significantly different in this version of iTunes and the previous one. Besides, it cost me on $99 US to became a beta tester today, and I have the Buyer’s Remorse. Seriously.

I keep getting hits from clarastestingplace.blogspot.com, yet it’s a private blog. I get at least one hit from that site per day. What’s up with that?

Also, I read this on my dad’s Facebook update:

“I have the runs today. It’s coming out to the tune of Tone Loc’s WILDTHING. Video soon!”

……and yet you all wonder where I get my TMI on the internet posting abilities from!

The Searchables

I left my computer at home today because we were going to go over what we have to study for for a test that is worth 30% of our final grade; that’s only 10% less than the Final is worth. So… After leaving school, I went in search of something that seems impossible to find here, and coming home empty handed, I checked my email and found a nice little search phrase on my Google bar in my browser: “Grim looking vaginas

Really.

Really?!

I’m almost scared to ask who searched for that. It could either be my husband or my father-in-law. Either way, it’s disturbing. Very disturbing. I almost don’t want to know who searched for it, but I have to know who is sleeping on the opposite side of my locked bedroom door tonight.

Also, it’s always fun to see respectable people having e-cat fights. Classy.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! I am so glad to be home to celebrate Easter, even though I had some trouble with the eggs last night. It took 30 minutes to dye an Easter egg pink! Oh well. I also woke up to my laptop battery warped and swollen, and I’ve made an appointment with the Apple store to go in tomorrow at noon and get it worked out. My computer is still under warranty, so hopefully I’ll just be able to get in, trade out the battery for a new one, and get out.

Oh, and I’m feeling much better today. I might not need any pain killers tonight!

Photoshop Tech Question

When I got my new laptop, I noticed that it had the entire Adobe CS3 programs on it:

Someone told me that I no longer need ImageReady, as Photoshop CS3 has animation features built in. Anyone know if this is true? Is it as good as the ImageReady animations? I want to try it out, as this is the software the band uses to update their website, but I don’t want to get in another mess with these Apple laptops. The last time I edited anything on the hard-drive, the computer’s motherboard malfunctioned, and I had to take it in for repairs. Advice? Reassurance?

No worries though. I have no motivation to open Photoshop and make pretty digital art. I’m not artistic at all. I always have ideas for a kewl website, and then I never follow through with them. I have hundreds of fonts that I was going to make things with that are sitting on FontBook, unopened and unused. That was okay until I started buying fonts. When I started wasting money on this, I had to pull the plug. I almost look at it like it’s a treadmill or something. I don’t want to create, but I hate what I have. That doesn’t make a lot of sense, particularly since any sane person would try to change what they could. I don’t. I just watch the stuff pile up. I do, however, use the Sims 2 stuff that I download. Does that count for anything? :)

Data Fail

When my husband gave me his guitarist’s old laptop (ok–it’s a year old MacBook Pro, still with warranty), he transferred all my iTunes files over to it, then my iPhoto files, and set it up for me. I was wooed. I was even more surprised to see that I had some extra space. Over three more gigs than I started out with! Woo Hoo! Then…it happened. I went in search of the movies I’d transferred to the computer the first day, and guess what? They aren’t here. None of the iTunes movies that I downloaded over the past three years are anywhere to be found. To make matters worse, it was my husband, and not the Mac computer system, that lost the files. His thoughts on this? “Did you really need to watch Saw IV every day?” Yes. Yes I did.

Saw IV isn’t the only movie that’s missing. I lost my Jerry Lewis movies, my Stephen King movies, The Searchers (which I never got to watch) and others, including the Harry Potter movies that I had downloaded before I sold my DVD copies. I had about five movies that I never got around to watching, and I won’t get to now, because they’re gone for good.

When my man fucks up, he really fucks up!

Random question: Is it time for me to put my themes up for free download yet? :)

Ode to My G5

Welp…

My 5 year old G5 computer has died and gone to computer Heaven. Or Purgatory. I’m thinking more that it’s Purgatory. The hard drive in it failed and I lost everything on there. iTunes files. iPhone Apps. iPhotos. Software. Everything. The only bright side I can see on this is now I’ll have more room on my desk to clutter it up. :D

And now to get a snack and go back to watching Sometimes They Come Back. I love that movie. I had the double DVD of it for a long time, and then I lost it. So I have to watch it whenever it comes on the 80s/retro channel.
